I can’t seem to get X-particles to render using CV-VRCam.

Is it just me?

Hi ColourAndre,

This is not a question based on the content in the tutorial. So I have moved it to the Q&A part. I left the original title in, for now, but will shorten it soon. A good title/Headline will help others to find things in the first place.

Is a rendering possible in non VR set ups (same scene?)? This would be the first thing to check, bake the particles of course.

As usual, share a scene file REDUCED to the minimum to showcase the problem (Not anything else in the scene! Sometimes that solves the problem by itself.)

If you encounter a problem uploading the scene, I will set up a private upload link.

All the best

Hi Dr.Sassi,

Sorry for the title of the question. I was obviously doing something wrong as it wouldn’t let me change the title.
The file is rendering fine using the setting Youtube VR2160s with CV-VRCam turned off, but with CV-VRCam on the particles disappear.

Probably silly, but I don’t know what you mean by bake the particles.

What’s the best way to upload a scene file to you. Should I just give a dropbox link?

No problem with the title, ColourAndre,
I just do my housekeeping here. :o) Easily fixed, but I have to tell you about, so you know where to find your thread.

Sorry, I use the term “bake”, “cache” would be the better term perhaps. It makes things more predicable.

Yes, drop-box is fine. Sometimes the upload of an “zip” file here fails (max 4MB for example)

I will wait for the file, talk to you soon!

Hi Dr.Sassi,

Here is the scene file.

It’s very rudimental at the moment, but I’m just trying to get the proof of concept to work.

Got me stumped as to why it wont render the particles. I’ve just been testing a single frame (164

Hi ColourAndre,

Edit: Solution is below in post #8 /edit

What works directly is anything that uses the xpTrail and an Hair material for example. Which indicates that the rendering is done after the particles are generated. So there is no conflict that I can see from the process-hierarchy.

What I can’t get to work is the material itself X-Particles Material itself. I can render a single point, but not even near where the particles would be. Something goes on there where I can’t really tell how to get it done nor a workaround for it.

I guess you might check with the support of X-Particles or Rick Barrett can shed some light on it. Sorry

I have send the developer of X-Particles the question. If they have something to solve it, I will share instantly of course.

All the best

Thanks so much for your reply.

Glad to hear it’s not just me.

Will check out X-particle support.

Thanks again. Will post answer if I find it.

Thanks for understanding, ColourAndre.

I certainly miss some information about both parts of the set up, and so I can only go by my own exploration.

I will post what ever I can find, thanks again as well for your offer.

My best wishes

Hi ColourAndy,

Here is a little clip [one minute] that goes through your scene.

I got the message from xpSupport and the simple idea is, that one needs “to get the XP Renderer working with others than the Standard C4D Camera you’ll need to deactive ‘High Q Render’ in the X-Particles Render settings”. Which works great here.

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/DfiCAhUO0oRS4p3NNTnCcJOtP4bltOiugECvfTzccVT?ref_=cd_ph_share_link_copy

What makes the copy of the arrow, You might explore that in all the over twenty objects of XP ;o), rendering was the question here.

Note that I have the v3.5 as demo (no budget here to keep all the great plug ins …) and the demo is limited to HD [1920x1080] so I had to make that adjustment. Please check in your set up the UHD settings.

I have switched off all the other parts, as I like to have a REDUCED version of the problem ;o)

I hope the clip show, and if you stay only with the VRCAM settings, check if the XP-Particles are part of the Render-settings, if not call one up: Effects>Render Settings.

All the best
