Pose Morph Troubleshooting

Everything was going well as I was animating my cow’s mouth. I must’ve clicked something wrong though, because now even thought I’m in “edit” mode, the points just snap back to the base pose after I move them. I’m guessing I’m overlooking something simple. Any suggestions as to why I can’t edit the poses is appreciated.

Hi Andy.Man,

I presume that you do not like to share the file publicly, but how about sending me the dropbox link to my Private Message account here on Cineversity?

I assume that you have auto back up enabled. Could you check out one or two iterations before the current one? Then compare, just a thought.

Please check if there is any PLA (point level animation) stored. (They shouldn’t snap back instantly, but—“just a shot in the blue”)

Let me know if any of that appeals to you.

All the best

Thanks for the file.

Here—the quick answer, as I believe you want to move on: uncheck the “Enable” option of the XPresso Tag while you like to continue with your editing. Then it works.

The long answer, about the “Why?”—after lunch. OK? :o)

Talk to you soon.

Hmm… I’ve actually tried this to no avail… Have even deleted the tag entirely with no success.

Enjoy your lunch wink

Of course as I try it for the 1,000 time it’s working… So strange. Afraid the problem must be somewhere between my keyboard and my chair…

Perhaps change the chair. ;o)

Seriously, no idea what is going on, perhaps copy the whole file and past it in a new one. At least save the Back-ups.

While you are getting this working (the XPresso thingy) I captured it.

Okay, so here’s what’s happening…

Like I mentioned before, I’ve tried enabling/disabling the Xpresso tag and still was unable to modify the poses. But what I’ve found is if I disable the tag, then delete it, then undo the delete, then I’m able to modify the pose. So I’m wondering f this is a bug? Anyway, it’s good to know I’m sane…

Thanks for the feedback, Andy.Man.

Perhaps it is time to get in contact with the support. http://www.maxon.net/support/support-questions.html

It seems to be more than that, as if I move the controller M.P.B the Ah slider follows and vice versa. Do you get the same? Something is not OK. Image on the right.

======

(Sorry about the delay, based on Lunch, normally Cineversity first, but this was an appointment with the leading “The Arcanum Master” to discuss learning models. I’m since long very interested in pushing the boundaries in web-based learning models.)

======

What I have done, I have rebuild a simple model and used User Data to manage the “PoseMorph” sliders. Same result. If I recall it correctly with much older versions of C4D, in the moment one switched to “edit” mode, the nodes would loose contact, or their availability. Since some functionality was merged in the past, things have changed.

To get this going I have attached an image with an XPresso set up. This needs to be in a different XPresso Editor/Tag, otherwise it will switch off ITSELF! Then there is no option to start it…

There are two Modes in the Node (Tag Properties>Mode is the one we use here). If in Edit mode, it provide “zero”, if an animation mode it provides “one”. So, if the one we like to work on is set to “edit” the total is lowered (Add Node) and the Compare node checks this: If greater or equal “four” then the main XPResso tag is enabled. So, no hazzle to switch many things at the same time. Just work and the problem is solved for this. (The Result nodes are not needed, they are just introduced to demo it) Compare both images. Top Teeth has changed from Animation to Edit (image in the middle)

Enjoy.

Ahh! Very nice. I’ve tried to come up with a setup like this in the past but it was over my head. Thank you for clearing it up.

As for the bug, I’ll report it asap.

Thanks for the feedback, Andy.Man!

It could be of course set to compare =4 ;o)

My best wishes for the project, was fun to hear some audio left in the C4D file.
