Current frame calculate in Xpresso?

Hello all,

I’m feeling a bit silly, I know that back in the day there was a simple way in Xpresso to connect the current project frame to the input section of the text spline node, then the spline would change automatically… but I’ve searched and searched for the ‘use current frame’ option in Xpresso but I cannot find it. Was it removed or am I overlooking something simple?

Thank you.

Hi Andy.Man,

Please have a look to the attached file. It is in the TIME node, there in Frame. Connect that with the Text Object, Object>Text.

(As this is a forum, let me add—just so everyone starting with XPresso can find the Frame, a click on the red rectangle of the Node and then while the “mouse” is “down” move down and select frame. Not always needed, but I like to double click on ports which are not needed. If an input port is not connected, typically that means nothing or input equals zero)

Typically a font that has no “Kerning” at all (like an old typewriter) will work best, e.g., the “OCR” Font is a non-proportianl font.

Let me know if you had something different in mind.

All the best

That’s it. I’m grateful and mildly embarrassed it was right under my nose. Thank you.

Nice, thanks for the feedback, Andy.Man.

Things like that happen, you knew where to find the answer. Enjoy your project.

Have a nice weekend
