Bounding Box Center

Is there a way to find the CENTER of a changing Bounding Box of an object and transfer it to another object? I’m using the Text Spline with a bounding box node and with the help of Yader’s tutorial, https://vimeo.com/27119077  have managed to keep things parametric. I want the Cube to remained centered behind the text no matter the number of text lines.

Hi Cameradan,

Please have a look here. Perhaps this has a solution [alternative] and some answers for you.

=====

Your file: [switch on Attribute Manager: Camera Dependent -XPresso Tag- to get an better refresh while working.]

I have used the Box Points, and fed both into a Mix [50%] to get the center. As it is a 2D source, I have used an Math-Add, to move the center into the back. I have use the Proxy Spline only and left the Text and MoSpline alone. The two Null objects that I have introduced are just for the demo, they have no further function.

All the best

Sassi

Thanks Sassi. The Mix Node is what I needed. I knew I could use the Box Points somehow.

You’re welcome, Cameradan.

As a side node, these Box Points can be used (XPresso) with the Null-Object (four of them).
Those can be placed in a MoGraph Tracer to “Connect All” and have a rectangular spline for, e.g., Extrude [NURBS].
Set the Fillet-Caps to make it bigger, and the z value of the Nulls accordingly.
(Of course, these BP can be used for the vertices of a Spline directly…)

Have a good one

Sassi

Hi Cameradan,

I was exploring some ideas. Even I think this is a little bit—kind of a—hack-liteā„¢ ;o)

It should work, I rendered it and it didn’t show any problems. The solution works for up to 202 letters.

It is an idea and it needs to be tested carefully if the stuff works.

You can move the MoText or the Letter XY to adjust the center of the Background box if needed.

(XPresso: The first group sets it back [red label], the second explores the letters [green label], and the third creates the Bounding Box [blue label])

Image 2:
Moving is possible, rotations not. If that is needed, place it under a new Null and swtich this off (visibility and render), then take the first child Null into an instance, [see image].

Have fun.

Sassi

P.S.: the hierarchy in the X-Manager is critical here.
