Help!

I cannot, for the life of me, get Texture mode to work the way the tutorials on Cineversity show it.  Searching online, I read something about needing to use it in conjunction with the Axis Tool?  Argh!  Frustrating!

Hi Jerome,

It is the flat projection, with the camera set to an Orthogonal view!

Is that as well set up in your project. Note that the Cloner Object rotates, the camera stays on the same position.

Please compare the provided file (where the tutorial is) and check out how that works.

If you can’t get it to work, please provide your file. Please ignore the suggestion of the axis tool here. The only thing that alters here anything, texture wise, is the “Texture Mode”.

All the best’

Thanks to stay tuned, Jerome. This example here is certainly similar to a test, if the projection methods are understood. I normally do not try to show other peoples ideas, but this was a great use of an other wise unusual projection method. (I have covered of course all of these methods in tutorials, basic-must-know-stuff)

All the best

Yes, you too are guilty of making “cool” tutorials.  8^P

Thanks a lot, Jerome. If cool means that the needed information is supplied, I’m happy. My main target is, that the “tool” is not in the way, I wish for everyone, that (after a while) C4D feels like a pencil, just use it.

I love to think of what I like to do, rather than what I can (or the app can) do. This allows me to grow and doesn’t stop me from doing things. I know that there is always a question, something to learn, but the main idea is to follow your artistic input first with no concerns. Well, that is the target, it takes a little bit time to get there, I know, but it is possible!

My best wishes

Ah!  I was able to make it work.  As you suspected, I wasn’t in camera / orthogonal view.  My mistake.

This is starting to demystify the texture more for me which was, until now, pretty scary.

Thank you for your help.
