Cloth simulation with pose morph

I’m trying to create a fabric muppet character that flops around as he speaks. Ideally he’d be affected by both Pose Morph and cloth dynamics. Is this possible? How should I go about this?

Hi noaha64975596,

Start with simple models and explore on that level what you need. Beginning with a complex character will slow down the project and learning process.

It will work in that way, the Pose morph will not be affected by dynamics or Cloth. Pose Morph will change things independently. The reaction of the cloth based on a Pose Morph is the processing way. Perhaps I am not clear what you have in mind.

Typically that should be possible. It is a question of what you like to have, and if the needed will help Substeps, Iteration, and Smoothing iterations numbers for the “speed” will allow for that.

Without specifics, it is hard to tell. Simulations have limits; flop around is not pretty straightforward. grin

Thanassis (Noseman) had some great tips during the last 3D Motion Design show. Have you seen it?

Noseman’s video is perfect. The softbody/ follow features are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

I spoke too soon! In Noseman’s video, the new R26 cloth tag has tabs for ‘soft body’ and ‘mix animation,’ but I don’t see those when I apply the soft body tag to an object myself. How do I access those tabs?

Hi noaha64975596,

I think the CMO of Maxon asked a question at 39:57,
which should give you the answer.

A bigger hint is here.
