Hi,
I’m struggling and must be missing something as this should be easy. I am trying to bake out an animation, it’s a cloner with mesh objects as clones, the animation is driven my a random effector and a time effector. I have tried using Mograph Cache Tag and baking in both the dope sheet and f curve windows - export as fbx and bring it back in - nothing. Please help, it’s driving me nuts.

Many Thanks

Hi adam.hopkins.

Using the MoGraph Cache first is undoubtedly a good step.

Try Alembic, and if you had an example here, I would have tried.

If FBX is needed, do the Alembic first and re-import it into a new scene (merge); often, FBX can be written from that data.

All the best

Hi,
Thank you for your swift response, I couldn’t post the scene file as it’s client sensitive. I did use the Alembic work around some time ago, I worked quite well but produced huge file sizes and trashed the UV mapping, I was hoping that things had moved along a bit since then! The Cache tag works well with dynamics but not with animations that are driven by Effectors, hopefully, this will be solved in the future and if not then it needs to be documented that Alembic is the best workaround so people don’t waste time trying to find solutions that don’t exist.

Many Thanks

Thanks for the feedback, adam.hopkins.

You could set up a sample file that reproduces the same problems. I am happy to take a look at it.

Or check with the support if that feels safer to you. grin

I hope we will find something for you, either way.
