I can’t figure out why I am not getting any reflections in this glass bowl object when following this tutorial. I’ve dug into some forums but can’t find this exact problem and can’t pick apart other people’s files to figure out what I’m doing wrong to only get a completely transparent object.

Thank you for your help
Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the scene-file!

A few steps

• Set the Interactive Render Region to low quality to get faster feedback.
• Set the Roughness to zero in the Material you would like to use for Reflection.
• Set the Transparency below 100% (if nothing else limits transparency, 100% will create this problem.)

That should give you a reflection of the context.

If that is not clearly visible, switch off the Transparency for the Glass Material, just to check if there is any at all.

If the reflection is clearly visible, adjust your scene to your needs.

Let me know if that worked for you.

All the best

That’s it! I tried reducing the roughness and it didn’t do anything at first, but when I deleted the second layer under reflectance and added it back, it worked! The video was also super helpful to see exactly what you were referring to with the brightness of the transparency.
