Taper spline in volume builder

Hello

I’m interested in using splines to create volumes so I can “paint” with splines and then mesh the result.  However the “tubes” that are created with the volume mesher don’t seem to have the ability to be tapered.
Is there a way to maybe do this with fields?

I’m working on creating an object like this

Hopefully that explains the idea?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

There are several ways to get this result. I have attached a way of working with Splines and the Volume Builder/Mesher:

The project file and screen capture [01]

This introduces a method [rnd(1)] that allows for a quick definition of the surface. The same can be done with the “Scale Spline GUI” of the Sweep object.

Another way would be to use a Scale Rail in a Sweep Object, which leaves the “Scale Spline GUI” for other adjustments, like the ends, for example. The Intermediate Points of the Splines will determine the detailing.

OR just deform the Scale.Rail [21]

Let me know if there is a question.

All the best

Ha!  I never tried the Scale Rail appproach, super interesting!  And the first option is also great…

Thanks for all this!  Definitely know how to approach this now.

Alex, I’m glad there is something that works for you. Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, the Scale Rail approach allows for many options, even to let it grow with a falloff (Linear field moving).

My best wishes for your project.
