Displacer option with the new Fields

Hi Folks,

I’m working my way through some medical animation tutorials and came across a really interesting effect using a Displacer and an effector and particle to produce a hole opening in in a vertex mesh. The setup calls for using a displacer, choosing “Source” as fall-off and placing the emitter in the “Source” option.

With the introduction of Fields, there is no “source” option in the Fall Off tabs. I’m assuming there is another way to emulate this functionality.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

You just drag the Particle Object (as particle v. point) into it. Please have a look here:

Perhaps have a look here:

Let me know if there is any other question, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

Hi Dr. Sassi

Thanks for this! I forgot to set the option to Vertex in the displacer, more like I didn’t know to set the option to Vertex in the Displacer.

Cheers, Steve

You’re very welcome, Steve, thanks for the reply.

Another case where a scene file might have triggered a broader answer.

Have a nice evening.

Agreed, also thanks for the link to Noseman’s Fields Series. Half-way through..excellent series. Another example of a well answered question leading to new insights in unexpected ways.

Have a good evening as well Dr. Sassi.

Cheers,
Steve
