Have a 2 part question… Is it possible to create this effect on abstract shapes such as popcorn? Basically need popcorn to animate up from the bottom to fill the screen such as this link:
https://vimeo.com/41790848

but then be able to show logo on individual pieces similar to this:

Thank you for your time and help… I am baffled

Hi benrenderman,

Please have a look at the linked files.

One gives an idea for the popcorn Dynamics. Please have a look as well into the Main Menu> Simulate> Forces, to provide the popcorn with perhaps a little bit more life.

The image on dynamically based clones is kind of a tricky setup. As the Dynamic takes over, but the original position is kind of dominant internally, simplified said. This means the Texture options in the Cloner are not set up for this.

My suggestion, to have a second set of object, harvested from the ‘original’ Cloner.
These can have transferred the position, scale, and rotation from the Cloner but own their UV information.

I have used here Camera Mapping, as it will allow you to get the precise or a close match of the Render-Camera. If there is a change, it can be established quickly.

Please note that this would be indeed a 10-minute tutorial, so the little clip I have attached is supposed to give the ideas and the flow of it.

If you have any questions, please let me know. My suggestion, start with a few clones to keep it simple, and when that is working nicely for you, set up the main scene.

Screen capture (one minute) and two project files:

If you have other UV tags in the scene, name them differently. In that way, you can delete unwanted Tags with a simple search.

All the best
