hi

Is there a way to let the team render clients check for an update ?I can’t find the check for update menu item on each client .  Or do I have to manually download for each node ?

Hi mj,

You have to start the main app on each computer, log into your Maxon Account,  and then get your update via the main Cinema 4D application update as usual.

The Manual has no entry about an individual Server or Client update function.

(To just copy the whole application folder to each machine is not suggested anywhere. If there is some trouble with this approach, use the clean install above.)

The Registration will be different for R21, no option to just chose Client.

For any technical questions about specific installations, please check with the support team.

if I start the main app It asks to login with my account.

but then it replies that I only have one license which is used . ( on my main machine)
And I can’t continue.

how do other people update their clients?

MJ,

In R21 there are now two Quit options in the menu:
The one as before [Quit] and
Quit and Free License.

When all the render computer are set up and have given “their” license back, you can log into the main machine and start rendering.

Since there is no official information about this process (or I can’t find it…), AFAIK – the Client-Render machine’s license is managed from the Main-Application then.

Sorry about the missing information and guidance so far about his process.

Cheers

ah

I already was afraid this would be the way .

so you have to finish one client before you can start updating the next . Lucky me I only have 3 clients ...

and is one client crashes during update . my license is somewhere .

Also I can’t work on main machine while updating the clients ...

hm..

ok I just did a full install of the program from the website . only had to verify them again on the main machine .
Lucky I always try to render without plugins. Don’t know if those are gone with a reinstall..

Great, MJ, it seems you have found your way.

I was going with your initial request to update.

You will find in the Client’s Preferences an option to point to the plug-in folder.

Client Menu> Machine> Preference> Plug Ins.

Enjoy.
