Hi Ron,
Reflections can be done scene wise or object wise (well material based: environment)
There are few things you have to consider:
-what surface has the model, convex or concave maybe flat or scattered, etc…
-what image material do you have (panoramas 360/180ยบ or single images
-do you have hdri or ldri, you like to work with stills or footage.
-what final resolution do you need (rendering)
-what equipment do you have, camera, fisheye, pano-head, chrome-sphere, etc
I have outlined a series about that but sorry, it takes some time. In fact a more or less multi series about C4D and mainly what one needs to know in conjunction with Photography (Video) is on work. As I use SLRs since over three decades for my work, I have quite something to share in that field.
Let me know a little bit more so I might can share some more helpful thoughts.
All the best
Sassi
P.S. if the “not show up in the scene” is the main question, check out the Compositing Tag, the object that carries the image information for the reflection need to be set to Attribute Manger (Compositing tag)> Not seen by camera, not seen by refraction nor transparence.
