Effectors drive Light Intensity

Hi All,

After struggling for days to find a workable solution for something that should be so simple, I’m turning to you guys.

Is there a way to have an effector drive the brightness of cloned lights? I’d like it to be so that outside of the effector’s influence, the lights are at zero, and when inside the area of influence, they are at 100%. It has to effect the intensity value specifically, because I need to export that value to AE for post work. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi 123media,

have a look here:

Is that working for you?

I will check this for the pipeline again if something has changed in 13.058

All the best

So I went one time through it with the current version and AeCs5 (Yes I know that Cs6 is out, but as usual, I will wait a while… and I save currently for a RED camera—Adobe needs to wait, as they do not give an education version to me of Cs6 ;o).)

Please have a look to this files (c4d, aec and aep)

Sassi, this works perfectly. Thank you!

How exactly is it working? I see that the effector has color mode turned on, but I can’t see what else is affecting the light.

Hey 123media,

The first step is to set the color in the Cloner Object to black.

The Plain Effector is set to work as 100% when full on, like the Position values are 100% transferred to the clones. Same happens to the Lights, they take the color information and use it. Thats pretty much all.

Check out a Random Effector (Min/Max set to 0-100%!) and then color to on, all is illuminated in color.

If you have an image in a Shader Effector, the Cloner can be used to create an Image Based Light scenario, without GI! (Turn the Intensity down to 1 -5%+/- based on the amount of lights that you use).

By replacing the Light with Objects and the use of MG-Color Shader you might see the connection as well.

I hope that helps. If not let me know.

All the best

Sassi
