Mograph cloners move outward along normal

Hi Cinversity,

Does anyone know of a ‘simple’ way to get clones to move positionally along their normal direction using mograph effectors?

I have a simple bucky ball that I have exploded into it’s respective parts and arranged the normals of each face (see attached). I am looking for a way to get the clones to move outward along the normal direction of each individual face, as if it is exploding.

I have tried using the exploded segments within a cloner object in ‘object’ mode and using the original buckyball as the object (set to polygon center alignment), but to no avail.

Thanks,

Jason

Got it figured out:

1. Take buckyball poly object and place a plain effector under it as a child.
2. Under deformer tab of plain object, set it to ‘polygon’.
3. Under parameter tab of plain object, increase positional Z value in the transform parameter.

Simple enough!

P.S. doh!

Hi Jason,

PolyFX does this with less effort, no explode of segments needed, for example. Transform P.Z is the value you need to use for this. (You can even use the Primitive for this)

All the best
