BodyPaint material view and activation

hello

I’m curious to get some clarity on the purpose of the material object view in BodyPaint.  I have a couple of questions

1/Is there a way to see this window without being in a BP specific layout?  I tried a few options but couldn’t find it.
here is the one I’m talking about :https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0upjmuciffif9n/2019-04-18_17h48_07.png?dl=0

2/I noticed that when I quit C4d then materials have the red X next to them and some of my alpha channel work in BodyPaint does not appear on the textures. Is this a problem if I’m setting up a render?  Will it actually take those materials/channels into account?

Thanks for any clarity on this!

Alex

Hi Alex,

The red X is just there to keep the memory demand low. The textures will be loaded for BodyPaint 3D use when clicked. The Situation in the Material Editor will not change, so no limitations to the rendering. The texture must be available as with any other project so far, of course.

I have honestly no idea how to build an interface from scratch. Even after I have googled across the web since your question was posted. To my recollection, no one has asked me about a new BP3D Materials-Manager window since 2004, so I had to search, just in case I miss something.
My suggestion, if the BodyPaint Layout has all the parts you need, in terms of editors and manager, you can save this Windows> Customization> Save Layout as… (e.g., BP3D _AC_01)

You can delete windows, add some Palettes with missing commands and functions, etc. Even add a timeline (Window> Additional…), as well as change menus. After each change, save this layout.
I hope that helps, but at the moment I find a command that allows to call up a new manager (etc.) that is otherwise not available, I will let you know.

If you are uncertain if all textures are connected, use the Main Manager> Window> Texture Manager.

My best wishes
