Hi,

Is there a way to resize mesh object proportionally…?

If I select Y size and X and Z set proportionally automatically…., any way to lock other two X and Z values to get the proportion of the mesh object…?

Thanks.
Imran.

Hi Imran,

What kind of object you are having the problems with. Your screenshot has cut off part of the information of that window. A scene file would have been great to know that it is not an application problem. However, I assume a generated object or Primitive. (Does it give you the same problem in the Attribute Manager> Coordinates?)
I have created a little screen capture, to go through a few scenarios.

Let me know if that clears the problem. If not I’m happy to explore a scene file, so we have the same base.

All the best

I have simple mesh cube object… (attached), I need its height 50cm, how can I lock other axis to get proportionally…?

In Illustrator…. lock size Hand W and give required width and height automatically come proportionally.

but how here in C4D…?

Thanks.

Imran,

You wrote that you have attached a file. No scene file here, just another screenshot.

Could it be that you want to have what is called in Ai “Constrain Width and Height Proportions”? Lock means to stop these axes from changing at all.

I would do it this way, a constraint option for this is not to my knowledge.

You might make a suggestion for this feature here:

I will check if there is another option…

Yes, you are right… lock means stop working that axis but my meaning was same “Constrain Width and Height Proportions”.

My math is so week…. it will be better to have some tool or script to get the Proportions….!

Suggestion feature… may be months or year required, as they do the priority jobs first.

Thanks Dr. Sassi.

Thanks for the reply, Imran, that clears it.

The math is done by Cinema4D, but yes, a faster way would be just a click a few symbols and have the target number as a simple entry field.

I have build one for you. It works for polygon-based objects. The XPresso Tag can be placed into the Tag Presets, as shown in the screen capture.

Just chose which axis the target size belong to and click on ‘change’. Done. If no longer needed, delete the Xpresso Tag.

At the moment I can’t think of something more straightforward. If I find anything, I will update this post.

ENJOY

Thanks for the excellent feedback, Imran, it was fun to set this up.

I could see that as an idea for a Python-based plugin, where anything 9not only full polygon objects) could be adjusted that way.

My best wishes for your current project

Fingers crossed, Imran, that some with enough Python experience will find some interest in it.

Thanks as well!

Cheers
