Hi, why my objects keep flickering when using moving mesh? I noticed that in other scenes as well. Playing with substeps etc doesnt fix the problem. Any thoughts?

Hi thanulee,

Please have a look at the file below:

Yes, typically a moving mesh has the highest attention, in terms of calculation. If I set the scene up in the way I would think it is correct, the spoons have no interaction with the cups. The cups are un-impressed by the spoons.
The set up above seemed to be the best compromise. (I assume that is not at all the mesh you would use, e.g., as the spoons have a lot of problems, to name one. Models Group: Much better)

All the best

Thanks, i see what u mean. Yes ignore the spoons. The cup with the cup plate is my problem cause i want also the cup plate to interact with scene and not stay in its place. Any thoughts on that? thanks

Thanulee,

What interaction do you have in mind?

If the spoons are ignored, what triggers or what moves to shake the plates?

Cheers

Idk for the moment im messing around with objects. It might not be spoons but it might be fruits.
What i wanna figure out is the cup and the cup plate to not flicker so then i ll throw anything at them hehe.

Thanulee,

You can use a trigger on collision set up. To avoid the low res object in the scene, you can use a dummy instead for the Dynamic Tag.

Enjoy

Thanks for the kind feedback, thanulee, very nice of you.

I take the feedback, while I’m aware, that no one knows everything.

Typically the given options are excellent, but sometimes a proxy or dummy object will work better. However, I would think that the “on collision” would do the trick already.
For a more complex set up, XPresso can be helpful as “trigger”.

Anyway, you’re doing the right thing, exploring and testing the options. Keep in mind, there is no failure – only gained experience. This kind of experience will fill your “Creative Library” (as I call it); The more you load it, the more you will be able to do. So, enjoy the ride, and please ask if something is not clear and create!

Cheers.
