Sphere cloning along spline

Hello Sassi, hope you are well. I am trying to clone sphere along a spline in attached scene file. I am using the step effector to taper the spheres at the start and end. But when the sphere are small there are gaps and when they are large, they intersect.

I just want each sphere to “touch” its neighbour, regardless of its size.

Scene file (I could not attach it to this post for some reason).

Kind regards,

Hi David,
Thanks for asking, I hope you are doing fine as well.

Please have a look here:

Dialing the two parameters will ensure to get the result you are looking for (Radius and Interaction).

Let me know if that works for you.

Happy Holidays!

You’re very welcome, David, thanks for the feedback.

If you start with a ridiculously large number of clones and dial the iteration up and down, you will notice that there is a sweet-spot. The distance (radius) will be scaled by previous Effectors, but I haven’t found a mathematical precision (i.e., predictability) with it, perhaps take it as guideline.

Thanks for the Holiday wishes, I look forward to some nice days of course, good food and mood is all I ask for.

However, I will be online, as I certainly know that some people take the time to explore some features. Perhaps some get Cinema 4D as a Holiday gift, I couldn’t enjoy the days, while knowing someone could use some ideas to move on, and solving problems and sharing ideas is certainly a gift that I make to my self.
Nevertheless, since we have artists here from around the world, things are quite different from place to place, so I hope it will be appreciated to keep the doors open grin

So, if something comes up: do not hesitate to post here! I’m happy to look into it.

ENJOY.

Well if Santa brings me a Broadcast > Studio upgrade I know what I’ll be doing. Although Broadcast has enough in it already to keep me going for another year anyway!

Fingers crossed you will find a nice surprise during the Holidays, David.

Yes, Broadcast is certainly good for a year of exploration already.
I’m certain that you will have a good time with it, either way.

ENJOY
