Animating percentages

Hi Folks;

I think this should be fairly simple, but I am an expresso noob. All I want to do is take a number beside a graph and have it go from 1% to 58% as the graph rises. Is there an expresso set up that will do that or a formula effector. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve,

I’m happy to supply an individual example, if you supply the graph you would like to do :o) I’m happy to explain the XPresso (attachment) if you like, but perhaps you take a look first into it.

XPresso is more often just an instrument to have information flow around in CINEMA 4D. For that nodes are the information “interfaces” that need to be connected.

All the best

Hey Dr. S

Thanks for the speedy response and the DL. I downloaded it but it doesn’t appear to animate the number, just sticks at 79% (or maybe its not supposed to you just wanted to illustrate the expresso)

I am using graphmaker 3d to make the graphs so I can’t really share the file. It has a percentage option but I need to make the percentage exact and the rig just divides the number of bars by 100 to get the percentage. I was hoping I could restrict that feature and simply make a number go from 0 to 58 and place it over the animating bar.

Does that make sense?

Hey Steve,

If you look into the Object Manager, there is an object that I have named “Move Me P.Y.” if you move this object up and down you see the change. The Range Manger node will translate any movement from Units in the values you need. Currently it is set to P.Y 0-1000 = 0-100%.

Do you have an excel sheet with the % numbers or any list of % numbers.

I have Googled “graphmaker 3d”, but not certain, as I saw no C4D option. If that search was correct, the question remains, how would you like to get the numbers into C4D, there are options, but so far you need to share more information. Perhaps “Graph Maker v.3” is the one? I’m certain the creator of the plug in is happy to get your feature request.

All the best

Hi Steve,

From the website it looks like there is as well XPresso involved, no idea how much other coding is involved. Anyway—I saw him setting up % in the demo reel.

Hi there,

Here is a native CINEMA 4D “0-100%” bar diagram. It can be adjusted from 1-10 bars and is fully slider controlled. Please test it carefully before using it in critical conditions, no guarantee, but I as usual—I’m happy to share my work.

If you go to the Layer Manager, you find some Selection Objects, here you can adjust some values then. Please note that this could be done in a simpler way, but I like to share this, as an example (idea collection if you like) , not as my idea of the “simplest way to do it”. :o)

I hope it is of some use. :o)
