Thinking Particle | Can’t trace from Matrix

Hi, I started to learn some new things from Maxon Training on Youtube and don’t know how to resolve this issue I faced while following this tutorial.

It is a thinking particle using Matrix objects and a tutorial link is below,
https://youtu.be/9jJxRSpU_II

I followed step by step to understand how things are built and work and I can not follow the last step to trace a matrix with a tracer in C4d 2023 version.
Also, the thinking particle disappears from the viewport once the animation is done and has to refresh by clicking the matrix object every time.

Can anybody address how to resolve this issue correctly and teach me what I should do in the new version of Cinema 4d?

Thank you.

Hi sid.jung,

I can confirm that. Sorry about the trouble, and thanks for asking!

Please have a look here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zo0qgindq01ut2u/CV3_2023_drs_22_MGtt_02.c4d.zip?dl=0

As you can see, it works. So what is different? This setup currently needs a little reminder that it exists. (Refresh problem? Perhaps)
So I animated it from P.Y 0cm to 1cm and back 0cm. That this is not something anyone likes to have, I animated the parent of the Torus oppositely. So the Torus is stable, but the system gets a reminder based on the “internal” move.

I hope that makes sense. Like walking in a slow driving bus to the back, effectively, you keep the position, but everyone else sees you walking.

I have to report it, and I hope this will be quickly fixed.

Cheers

Hello, Dr.Sassi
Thank you for your response and sharing your working file as reference.

Checking your reference file, I noticed 2 differences, one from Xpresso editor and tracer.
From your file, I have a few questions about those differences. It took quite some time to figure setting things up and should I set up T.particle setup always?
Also, although I followed your version, it still has same issue that I have to unclick matrix object everytime when sequence ends and restart.
I will share a my file and can you check whether you have a same issue as I or should it be a matter of setting from mine?

Here is a link for you to download,

Thank you.

Thanks for the file, sid.jung.

Please set up the XPresso and TP as suggested by Elly. To use groups is a different theme, and I should not have left it in. It was more to see the count. I have updated the file.

The main idea of the file above was to work around the current build’s problem. (To animate the Parent and counter that animation for the torus is the key.) Here that animation triggers the refresh, which is the problem. In your file that was “workaround” was not set up.

Please also look at the image below; the position in the Object Manager matters, top to bottom, is the main idea if the Priority settings are not changed. Is that always needed? No, but if the information is not produced for that frame, the information from the previous frame is used. In the editor, that is not always clear, but in renderings, it will.

Please allow some time for the developers to look into that, so it will work in the future again as it should.

All the best

P.S.: Here is an example of why I used TP/XP differently.

Working in Groups allows us to organize and change information. There is certainly more possible…

However, using the frame zero particles and feeding them into the TP system makes them independent from the Matrix for any other frame.
