Text Bevel Question

Trying to figure out the spline option on extrude or text object. I just want a basic 2 step rounded bevel. I have tried the presets that look like what I am hoping for, and have tried modifying the curve, but I always get this strange flat angled region instead of a clean 2 round look. If you look at my example, the profile I created is what I want, but the result does not match. Thoughts?

Hi kolinize,

Is that close?

The Spline-Interface (Extrude Object) allows subdivisions perpendicular to the extruding direction. As a result, the needed data for details in extrude direction only are not given. Take a look at file …01.c4d and look at the Front view. I hope that explains the problem.

I have placed two files that explain an alternative with the Bevel Deformer. It used the provided Selections from the Extrude and a specific Spline as Bevel definition. Have an eye on the orientation of the Bevel profile and the spline shape; then, you will see the connection of orientation.

Thank you very much for the help. This is a bit counter intuitive but Im glad I finally have a better understanding and a working approach. This has been bugging me for years. Glad I reached out. Thanks again!

You’re very welcome, kolinize.

I understand what you are saying about counterintuitive. The Spline Interface is a little bit disconnected from the results.

If you have some ideas on how that should work better, please submit your suggestions as support tikes> Suggestions.

Thanks for considering.

Have a great start to your week
