Dangling Cords, dynamic bumping into each other

I’ve been trying to figure out how to get these spline dynamics to bump into each other. Right now they are not, I tried adding Rigid body but the cords start freaking out. And I tried the hair collider but it also seems like it’s not working. the cords keep intersecting. I want them to bang into each other. Any ideas? please help. I used a cloner to space them out then from what I know the only way to make them act individually is to flatten them. But I left the cloner in the project file in case you want to repurpose it.

Hi salvame,

I think the best source for this information is Chris Schmidt:

All the best

MMM.. interesting. maybe making the cords via Joints might work better. Is it possible to add multiple jointed cords that bump into each other? I’ll try it out, just wondering if they can be given those dynamics.

Thanks for sharing the file via DropBox, salvame.

I will have a look into it this evening (I’m off to dinner right now)

Cheers

Thanks for your patience, salvame.

Please have a look here.

I copied and pasted each “string” and moved it. Similar to yours. The setup is possible in R25, even I have used an older “short-cut” here (the plugin is not working in R25: CV-Dynamic Connector), but the setup is doable in a few minutes.
The idea is to start with a sphere as colliders, each “string” connected and only the top one is a collider, so it sticks. These spheres go then into a Tracer (B-Spline and Natural:8), which is the base for a Sweep setup. I placed a single Spline as rail into the scene and distributed it via Instances. This prevents revolving around their axis.

It seems to be pretty stable. I stress-tested it with a large sphere (set up as a collider).

Enjoy your weekend

Howdy sir, I was able to replicate your system setup. But I’m not sure how to multiple the system so I can have like 20 in the same scene. How would I go about doing that? Please advise, thank you sir.

Never mind Dr. Sassi. I figured it out. I just needed to group all the elements together, thank you again.
