Apply video with alpha channel as a texture map

I’ve built a video of three images fading in with the block dissolve transition in AE and want to apply it to a flat plane in Cinema.

I had no trouble adding a still version of this image (with an alpha) to isolate the images from the geometry. Now that I’ve swapped the still texture map with the animated version I’m getting a “?” where my texture map should show.

I’ve turned on “Animate Preview” in the “Viewport” option of the Material editor and watched an older tutorial on how this is done but I’m spinning my wheels.

I’ve included a C4D test file, the video texture map and the alpha video map. I made a movie file with the alpha intact but the file was huge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi R. Cates,

No files…

I tried to send a PM, but I got an error. I will leave this upload URL for a moment. (I will get an email when something arrives. I will take it down then, for security reasons.)

I got the files, thanks

Cheers

Hi R. Cates,

Thanks for the files.

Please have a look at the file below:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/aIBPRmM7LM9AhuWYnyksksA0O71svcVFryrAFciJ3Ev

Would you mind checking it out and letting me know if it works?

The Material Tag> Attribute Manager> Tag> Add Material …, was checked, which works like a layer in Photoshop set to add, while a white background is enabled (in this case)

The Alpha Channel was set to Invert.

The File names were different.

The files were on the same level as the Scene/Project (c4d) file while being “relative”, meaning they had no absolute path that would allow them to find them. Place textures and clips in a folder, name it tex, while that is on the same level in the project folder. Then relative files will be typically found.

I assume most of my findings were just signs of trial and error to get it to work. I hope the file above will help.

My first check in those cases is Main Menu> Window> Project Asset Inspector…

BTW, the Background object is there to make certain that it is working, besides that, it has not purpose.

My best wishes for your project.

P.S.: I can’t send the files via PM, if that is a more private file, please let me know if the link should be removed.

You’re very welcome, R. Cates! Thanks a lot!

Don’t worry about time; I’m certainly around if there is another question!

Enjoy.
