Texture Problem

Hi everyone,
im having a problem getting this texture right (the grey and red padding). I have modelled the pads on this apparatus, but after polygon reduction, subdivision, making editable, then more polygon reduction, the UV map is all over the place. So making a selection and applying the second colour wont work. Any ideas how I can get something close?

Thx in advance
Simon

Hi Simon,

From the image, I can’t tell. As usual, a scene file would allow me to say something more.

Use a copy and check if UV Packing will provide you with something better – this is the only answer I can give without seeing your model.

If you need an upload link, please let me know.

All the best

Cheers. Thx for the reply. Here is a scene file for just some pads.

Is there a way to clean up the uv map to make nice lines?

Thanks for the help

Hi Simon,

Thank you very much for the files and for using one of my trusted Cloud services.

As you wrote, you did a lot to the file. It is nearly dead. Sorry to be that blunt. The only way I could get anything from it was to place it in a Volume and create in this way a new mesh. Not the way it should be.

Here is an example
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/CorMZWIMoUefJ0SdiMbb9C0zv96Xs0wd7M5VMbczj14

The file that you have sent me indicated that you worked initially with a generator. I assume an Extrude was used. If you could share the Spline that was initially providing the base-shape, we could look at how to improve in that state model already—at the same time, avoiding a mesh that is having more problems than advantages.

All the best
