Two technical questions, fields and pose morph.

Hello forum, I have two questions.
I’m trying to figure out how this was created in C4D.

Was wondering if the forum could take a look at this video below:

00:00- 00:03
https://vimeo.com/272435172

In the beginning, where the thick tubes are animating from larger to smaller, is this a effect within C4D, or is a post-production effect with a camera?

I have tried to recreate this effect using fields (dropbox link below).

The other question is how do the set of tubes morph into the shape of the shoe?
I was thinking pose Morph? but then would the tubes need a spline driving them, correct?

Any suggestions or links to tutorials on Cineversity or beyond would be really appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi joshua.howard,

Thanks for the timestamp and the video.

Yes, you are spot on. It has to do with the edit and the camera move. The two main parts that every 3D motion artist should know well, Cinematography and Editing/Montage. Here I have the understanding of the art of it in mind, not the application skills, as those are easy to learn. But, understanding the magic that these two can create is crucial to know. So, thanks for the lead on that. With Maxon One now including Red Giant, the training team has space to focus on these, and I see a good chance that we will share, as usual. A while ago, I put some super basics about Cinematography and light into tutorial series. Well, it is my favorite theme, and I could share it for weeks without repeating myself. I got some awards for my film work, and I’m happy to share more in the future.

Please have a look at the file below:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/xLqcSHK7icq2S67NAV9QEGUz1pcT16bn84NZ6WVN5ZH

Click on the PoseMorph, including the UserData tab. You can activate both at the same time.
This is the most straightforward setup I can think of for the part 0-3 seconds.
The part after that is projected Splines creating these stripes and become animated.

The key is here in the camera move and edit, so we believe we look at the same. Still, I guess these are really two different setups to make the animator’s life easier, so they were able to focus on the stuff they do so well at BUCK: deliver magic for the audience.

All the best

Hello Dr. Sassi!
Apologies for the late thank you and reply.

This is really great. I haven’t really explored the possibilities with FFD, so this is really useful!
Also I was having a difficult time figuring out how to make the tubes in the Cloner stay a consistent size/width as their radius increased. SO DOUBLE USEFUL!!

Thanks again for your scene file and willingness to explain!
🙌
