Caps are crossed in .OBJ

Hello!

When exporting an extruded spline in C4d R23 to .OBJ, The front or back faces sometimes cross in the OBJ as you can see in the attached photos. I created the splines natively within C4D. The model appears fine in C4d, will even render fine. But when I import the exported OBJ in Adobe Dimension (or import the OBJ back into C4D) the front/back faces are crossed.

Actual files can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f4jflwhi0gzf2z1/AABYvybiD1pgherY1Qb5w0JYa?dl=0

The problem arises with some splines and not others, even within the same file so I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. Please, please help. It does not happen when using primitive shapes, so I think it must be spline related.

Thanks in Advance!!!

Hi hello,

Thanks for using dropbox and for the files. Very much appreciated.

The Caps are set to N-Gon. That is an option while developing things. N-Gons are the reason for your results.
It depends (type of caps) on what you like to do with the objects, such as deforming or other animations.

If you export to obj, perhaps Delaunay is a good idea. Note that some settings in obj might have some adjustment needs in the target application.

What I have done in the file:
Set to Caps> Caps Type> Delaunay

The Sweep showed a minor problem in the sharp corner. I used the Current State to Object function (spline) and deleted some points in that area. Also, I have set the number of points in the Circle to 4 instead of 8 (just a suggestion).

Here are the files:

(01 is the adjusted file and exported. The 11 is the re-imported obj.)

All the best
