Water Effect

Hello,

I am completely new to Cinema4D so forgive me if this is a silly question or even in the wrong spot. I tried to do some research before hand but couldn’t really find what I was looking for.

Basically I am trying to make a container animate by rocking it back and forth, and want a liquid inside to respond to that rocking motion like it would in real life by splashing around back and forth.

I have a rough set up going of a tube and a blue “liquid” inside (see screenshot for reference). Right now when it rocks back and forth, the blue just stays level and moves with the container like it was a solid. Is there a way to make it act like a liquid?

Hi chuck,

Not a silly question at all. The Forum you have chosen to post is the wrong one. Please use for those questions the Q&A forum. Thanks a lot.

Typically that would be a mouse-click for me, but I do not have the admin-rights to mess with the Toolbox Support Forum. I just saw your post. Normally I would answer much faster. When this is moved to the Q&A, please let me know if you have questions. I’m happy to look into it.

Here is an example: (It is a little bit larger, as I have included a cache, so you can see what I saw.

If you like to dive deeper into the fluid simulation options, you should check out RealFlow for Cinema 4D or X-Particles. You will find in both specialized tools that can’t be easily replaced.

ENJOY

You’re very welcome, chuck!

Here is an example of that technique a couple of years ago.

Cheers.

Do you happen to know of a tutorial video that happens to walk through the steps of that technique? I opened the file you provided and that is exactly what I was looking for, but since I’m basically brand new to cinema4D I can’t really piece together the process/method behind it.

Hi chuck,

The basics of dynamics are the key to this technique. With that being established, we move on to Volume Modeling.

A short tutorial about dynamics that comes close to your question:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/modyn_medical_logo/modyn_medical_logo_-_part_3

There would be the short little exploration of water with default tools here:
https://youtu.be/xgFqIP0NlzE?t=695

My suggestion would be to just explore the Dynamics a little bit, especially the Rigid Body Tag>> Attribute Manager> Collision> Shape.

When this can be done with ease, move on to explore the Volume part.

ENJOY.

Perfect! Thanks so much. Having some direction on where to start searching really does help.
