Rotate the Orientation of the Gradient in a Material Node

Beginner here trying to get through a professional project. I created a great transition for my Texas river landscape using Material Nodes. The surface transitions from sand to grassy sand to grassy at the edge of a creek but the gradient transition is going left to right and I need to turn it about 60 degrees clockwise. I tried attaching UV Transform to the Material Node’s Content, and it had no effect on the surface’s orientation. How do I turn the whole Material 60 degrees. Thanks for any help, spent hours trying to find the answer with no luck. Everything I found is for traditional Materials, not using Nodes.

Hi williams.7489,

Without a scene file that contains this material, I can’t tell what you have set up.

When you apply the material to an object, you get a Material Tag. Click on that Tag and go to the
Attribute Manager> Coordinates> Rotation.
I can’t tell you without a scene file what axis you need to rotate or if that is possible with your set up.
(Think of a noise shader set to World, then it would not work. Similar to that, if you use noise in your set up, check the options there.)

If you need an upload link, I’m happy to look into it.
Perhaps it could be solved as well by selecting the UV mesh and rotate this. Not really the way to go, but an alternative I like to mention.

All the best

P.S.: based on the newer questions in a different thread, I assume I now understand the question.

Since you want to use a Node based material, you need to get the surface’s Normal to differentiate among all possible surfaces.

Here is an example

Open the Node called “TopSpot” and adjust the min/max values to your liking, they define the up orientation.
