Field Force not attracting clones after they pass

I’m using S22, I am trying to get a tube object to attract clones using the Field Force.  The clones approach and collide as expected, but they do not turn around after passing the tube.  I am expecting the field force to behave like an attractor, but use the geometry of the tube surface instead of a single origin.  What am I missing?

Thanks!

Hi tech,

I assume this is your target:

Alternatively, please have a look at this setup, would that work for you?

To get such a movement playfully around the Torus, you might check out this quick tip

or this discussion a while ago

Is that inspired by Vessel, today’s presentation at “-2:50” hour:min?
Here is the minimal set up to illustrate the effect.

Note, the object as Field/Force source is set to Surface.

My best wishes for your project

Cheers

P.S.: I was interested in finding a simplified setup, that explains the effect that you have encountered. I have cached the scenes, so you can see what I saw.
The problem lays in Toru’s surface as it has opposing faces, “out–in–in–out” (sides).  The Axis values will be “+ - - +”, plus think about falloff/map, you get some canceled out areas.

The File …_21.c4d is just a showcase of the surface forces and how it should work, instead of pushing things into the infinity.
The File …_22.c4d shows the “Torus-Effect” split into two Cubes.

I hope that gives a good starting point to explore this phenomenon.
