Change increments points are moved

I’m making adjustments to some points in a scene based on 1cm display. I don’t have snap enabled but when I try making subtle adjustments the points move way to far with the slightest move.

I assume there’s a setting to tone down how far points move based on scene units but I’m not seeing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi R.Cates,

A while ago, the best idea was to have the size of the object in a way that it has three digits before and three after it. So the most extensive and overall dimension will not exceed it, and the smallest is not four of five digits on the right side.
Things have gotten more precision, but I stick with it.

You can scale a scene up and down:

Attribute Manager> Mode> Project Settings
https://help.maxon.net/us/index.html#DDOC-DOCUMENT_GROUP_PROJECTSETTINGS

I hope that helps you to be in a more comfortable (or suited) scale.

All the best

That helps. When we were working through the syringe I saw a tutorial that talked about scaling scenes to accurately reflect the real dimensions of objects.

When I checked, the syringe was HUGE (based on reality) so I used that technique which resulted in syringe file you saw.

I’ll check that link and make the necessary adjustments.

Thank you.

You’re very welcome, Randy, thanks for the reply.

A few years ago, the idea of using a meter, cm, mm, or inch, etc. became more critical, based on dynamics and other real-world effects, like IES lights.

However, for just pure modeling, I stick with it, that the numbers are critical, not the labels. Well, how comfortable one can work is undoubtedly key, which modeling.

Please note that the Units are also in the preferences. If the preferences are set like the Project to Km, e.g., for a city scene, a syringe would be perhaps 0.00008km. This would not show up in the parameter after the input. Certainly not useable.

My best wishes
