Can’t Get Sculpting Changes to Stay Put

I’m working with C4D R21.  I’m trying to make changes in the mouth/face of a Fuse/Mixamo human figure.  I’m attempting to use sculpting in C4D to make those changes.

When I use sculpting on other objects with the sculpting tools, they operate as they should.  However, when I attempt to use them with the mouth/face of the Fuse/Mixamo figure, the changes take place as long as the mouse cursor is active.  However, as soon as the mouse/cursor is removed from the screen the change snaps back to its original position.  For example, if I Grab a portion of the facial mesh and move it, it moves.  But, as soon as I release the mouse button, the facial mesh snaps back to its original position.

Also, If I attempt to do the Subdivide function in Sculpt, the sculpt tools will not work at all.

Any suggestions how to get sculpting to work so the sculpting changes made remain in place for this Fuse/Mixamo face?

Thanks!

Hi pacificm,

https://help.maxon.net/us/index.html#TSCULPTTAG-ID_TAGPROPERTIES

I tried to recreates this here, but there are so many variables:
Without a scene file, I can’t say anything with certainty.

I’m not at all clear about your set up. PoseMorph, Sculpt Subdivision, etc.?

Please provide a file, if that can’t be public, let me know.
I can provide an upload link.
If you use a cloud service, as usual, only Adobe, Dropbox, Amazon, Google, or Apple.

Cheers

Hello,

I attempted to send a copy of the C4D file.  The C4D file is 27.9 MB.  The .fbx file is 9.5 MB.

But I got an error message from Cineversity that the size of the attachment must not exceed 4096 KB.

How can I send you a copy of the file with the file sizes exceeding the 4096 KB limitation?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi pacificm,

I have sent you an upload link. At the moment the first file arrives, I will get an email. I will have a look at it.

Cheers

Hi pacificm,

Inside of your PoseMorph, the poses have a Target object. As long as this Target is inside the field, the Pose can’t be altered.

Two options:

• Delete the Target object while the Slider is at 100%, which leaves the information in the Pose, and now it can be changed.

• Go to the Target object itself and change that object, it will change the information in the Pose.

I assume you use the Sculpt Tools without (!) changing the point order, amount, or anything thereof. As it is based on a point to point relation, this is critical.

Here is a demo file and a screen-capture:

Thanks for the file.
I hope that works for you.

All the best, stay safe, stay healthy.
