LowRes/Grainy/Bitmapped looking material preview in manager and Editor.

Just installed the latest version of Cinema 4D, R21. I’m having an issue with the materials previewing clear. I’m not talking about achieving good render results. The materials themselves being previewed or dragged from content browser look horrible. They look bitmapped, grainy, reflections are grainy and jagedy.

If I drag a clean and crisp looking material from the browser into the manager it looks really bad, and low res, and even changes shape.

I’ve used cinema 4d off and on over the years and have never seen materials look so bad. Even the checkerboard background of the material preview looks low res.

Everything else in the programs interface is sharp, crisp and clear, as well as every other creative media program I’m using.

I attached a few screenshots.

I’m using Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 3950X, NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super (x2).

I’m not sure if I don’t have some setting right, but I’ve never had to adjust any settings in the past.

Hi bsquaredfx,

Is this maybe based on the Roughness parameter in the Reflection Channel?

From the screenshots, the background looks fine.
