Hello Cineversity-Team,

I found a tufted sofa in the content browser (see Visualize - 3D Object - Seating - Sofas - Sofa Design 02, made by Pavel Zoch).

I need similar tufting for a project, but can not figure out how it was done. I´m learning C4D for a few months now, but sometimes still feel like a noob XD
As far as I can see it wasn´t done with sculpting, right?
Could somebody explain how to create this tufting in C4D?

I would really appreciate it.

How about this one

Two of which are in Maya but the process is straightforward and you can easily apply it to C4D.

Hi AnSa

Please have a look at the one minute clip below.
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/ZNbRf7zD1iUXpmYJTqM5ZH5ramFxaLAocdECtDwRxWZ

The main idea, as with most Subdivision modeling is, to have a (leading) editing edge and a supportive edge. The supportive edge limits the reach of the editing edge.

In the clip above, I have to each side of the editing edge, a single supportive edge. The closer the supportive edge is to the editing edge, the “harder” the new shape will appear. If it is further away, it will be “softer”.

Those edges can be given from a Primitive (made Editable, Key:  “C”) or can be created with the Knife Tool.

If you check out Subdivision Surface Object (SDS) Weighting, it will add some more control over the results.

Let me know if there is any other question, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers
