Where are Content Browser files located?

I want to analyze two Render Presets I saved out (to learn of their differences).  I see them in Cinema 4D C4D_Test_Settings_A and C4D_Test_Settings_B (what I named them) under Content Browser | Presets | User | Render Settings.  But I have no idea where they are on the file system.

I’m running macOS and have already searched in ~/Library/Preferences, ~/Library/Application Support, the application directory, etc.  Basically all drives on my Mac.

I suspect these “files” may be embedded in some larger file somewhere.  Any ideas?

Hi Ricky Sharp,

While being in the Content Browser, you can open the folder “User” (right mouse click: Show in Finder).

Yes, the render settings will be in the user.lib4d file. Nothing that you can do directly with it, nor should.
You can just leave that finder window open, save another setting and check the “Date Modified” entry. To make certain this is the one.

If you want to see your settings, you have to load them into the Render Settings itself. Then alter them as needed and save them with a new version number or name.

All the best

Bummer.  It would be nice if they were separate files on the file system.  One could use a binary compare to then see what the differences are.  I will try my best to walk through all the render settings UI to see what the differences are.

Ricky Sharp, load the settings you would like to compare into the Render-Settings.
Select (shift key) all the parts you would like to compare, e.g., Output, Sav, Multi-Pass, etc.
Then select all the loaded Render Settings (shift key again).

What is the same, with show a parameter, what is different, will show a “Multiple Values” entry, or just a dash in case of checkboxes.

Example:

To see only one, just select what you are after of course.

Genius! Thank you, Dr. Sassi. Now I can answer that other forum thread on the Alpha channel issue.

You’re very welcome, Ricky Sharp, I saw the connection between the two questions, and thanks for exploring this issue.

Please let me know if there is anything else, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers
