Dynamic objects via cloner jumps when sized up

Hi!

I’m working on a project where I’m visualizing data via an external .csv file through python and then displayed through clones. It’s the most complex C4D-setup for me so far and very fun and I’ve learned a ton!

Finally managed to get the MoSelection to work with my user data input, but now the next problem occurs:
When I alter the size of the dynamic clones while resting on a floor the clones JUMPS straight up in the air. I’m guessing this is due to fact that the up sizing makes suddenly makes the clone intersect the floor and therefore it shoots straight up. But how can I work around this? Is this solvable?

Here’s the scene file, It will probably ask for the .csv but I guess it works without it:

Hi martinlofqvist,

I do not see any scaling in the file. So I have set up a little sketch with two examples.

I used as Dynamic Body Tag> Attribute Manager> Collisssion> Shape: Box
In that way the sphere is not rolling, and keeps so its axis system.

What is the “same” in both, that the scaling axis is on the floor, not in the middle of the sphere.
Main Menu>Mesh>Axis center: Y axis to -100%

The file is here

In a similar way on could also Cache the unscaled solution and when all is cached, scale.

Let me know if that came close.
All the best

P.S.:

IF you like to explore some kind of “patching” options, here is a file for you.

Use the slider to change the “even” parameter in the Delay Effector, it is the slider inside the Edit view [HUD], or just switch on/off the friction.

The Delay Effector might help as well with a Linear Falloff setting, just a thought

Hi Sassi!

My bad, I changed the file after I published the link.
Have a look at this file and you’ll see the problem:

I appreciate your examples but I do not see how they can be used in my example

Thanks for the file, martinlofqvist.

In the “Single Select” XPresso, you have already the position of that Sphere. Why not just place a larger sphere over that position? No interference with the Dynamics.

Example:

(Alternative: you could set up a Cloner with two identical sphere sizes, driven by Sort, and modify clone, instead of scale. Then cached and the second sphere replaced with a larger one.)

My best wishes

P.S.:

Just to demo a short little workaround to keep clones upright even they bounce.
