Matrix Object on Voronoi points

Hello

I recently discovered a really nice point distribution that happens if you use a Disc object as the point source for the Voronoi Fracture Point distribution on a plane.
With the right amount of rotations etc…you almost get something that looks like phylotaxis.
I was interested in finding ways to render this, so I used a Matrix object to clone matrices onto the Voronoi object, but you can see in the project here that is is not quite aligned?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjzr721jt5c8pn2/MatrixOnVoronoi.c4d?dl=0

So why would the Matrix object, set to clone to object and use the vertex distribution, not line up with the points in the Voronoi object?  Is it because those are points and not vertices?

And what would be a good strategy to render that pretty voronoi point distribution?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Very nice finding.

To get what you want, do the following:

• Set the Plane to 1 by 1 segment

• Set the Matrix: Attribute Manager>Object>Distribution>Polygon Center

That should do the trick and looks here like that:

All the best

Yep, that worked!  So I guess adding more polygons to the plane is confusing the matrix object?  The polygons are maybe getting a bit messed up by the Voronoi fracture?

Thanks!

Alex, the edges of the Plane will not go away. So the estra edges create more polygons and with that, more “points” on the result.
Your target was something closer to phylotaxis.

Rendering the points, perhaps with a tiny object, set to Attribute Manager>Object>Render Instances.
