Logo/design on a curved object…

I’m looking to place multiple animated logos on a ring. Similar to the Sky logos on this video:

I’d like to be able to replace the logos in After Effects. Usually I would do this with external composting and object buffers. Problem is, I’ve only ever placed logos on flat surfaces, so I’m having a little trouble here. Is there a similar technique for curved surfaces or is this something that has to be done in Cinema??

Hi kylewparker,

The options are

- to stay native with Cineware while in Ae

- to render passes in C4D and replace those (not really your question, as you like to stay in Ae, I know…)

- to use RE:Map http://www.revisionfx.com/products/remap/

- to use Element 3D, but I’m absolutely not practically familiar with it at all, so this might be an information that needs care…

There are options to create 3D effects in Ae, but that is not the scope of this forum, and why bother if you have C4D.

All the best

Edit: I googled, as I know THE Meyers have done comprehensive material on this, but my quick search showed only this, perhaps you dig a little bit deeper. Nevertheless I think native C4D is the way to go based on your clip example.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response! Much appreciated.

Looks like I’ll stick with cinema and render a a separate pass of the logos.

Thanks again!
