Hi Dr. Sassi, hope that you are well. I am watching your wonderful tutorial concerning TP-fragments. My problem is I believe I am following your tutorial verbatim, but my particles are still going through the polygon wall and I am not getting fragments. Could there be a bit of a change in Xpresso since the tut was first recorded?, thank you, Craig

Hi Craig,

Would you mind to share for a moment the file?
I certainly will have a look into it.

I have attached an file that I created newly in R16.

The Group2 is of course outside of the Deflector, if that was you concern. I have integrated this step.
Perhaps, have as well an eye on the XP-manager, to see the flow/hierarchy.

As a side note, sometimes particles are just faster than the algorithm. Will say, they are too far away from the deflector to be already bounced, but in the next frame already to far behind the deflector. In such cases I try first to set up a second Deflector with settings that might catch the escapers.

All the best

Sassi

P.S.: …_02.c4d is just for fun.

Hi Craig,

I can, but as I always tell—use an underscore “_” and no spaces in file names. Just by clicking on it gave me a “404 error” message, and the “dissappearing” on the resulting end of the file name was not really re-insuring either ;o)

So, what has that file to do with Thinking Particles and the tutorial? Perhaps you like to have the stream/surface of that set up be the deflector!? But you could just move a simple emitter with that animation…

Switch off the High-Quality mode in the Boole and you’re fine.

All the best

sorry for the complexity with my file, I’ll get it right someday-I was trying to emulate what you had done, but my particles were not deflecting-they were going through the plane-whereas with your files, ( thank you btw), the particles were being “deflected)-your file were more complete, I did not get that far, but I could not figure out why they were not deflecting off of the plane-perhaps you can tell me what I was doing wrong. Thank you for your time, Craig

Hi Craig,

Please download the link you gave me and check if that is the file you like me to see.

I like to explore your file—with the Thinking Particle set up—but in order to do so, I need to have it. The file that you have shared has not even an XPresso Tag in the scene.

All the best
