Reflectance channel

Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to copy the entire reflectance channel? Like say copy and paste from one material to the other. It does not seem to be working for me.

Also, how do I multi select multiple reflectance layers within the channel itself?  I tried shift. Select, opt select, Com and Cntrl select…etc etc.

Cheers
Stu.

Hi Stu,

Single “Layer” copy and paste only AFAIK. Copy the whole material, set up the other channels in this new material, if they are less complex, and use it as wanted.

You might check with MAXON itself, but I guess, as I haven’t seen in the past 18 years a way to copy several parts of the material (e.g., Fusion Shader or Projector) all at once, that you have to leave a suggestion only:

I saw a while ago a node based material system, I’m not certain how well it did and if it is available for R16. http://www.cmstuff.com There might be an answer for such questions, ... maybe. But check out the suggestions or even the support.

All the best

Thanks Sassi.

I don’t know, now, where I got the idea I could copy an entire channel. I can only put it down to other software and getting it and C4d mixed up smile

It would be really helpful if you could add reflectance to a Layer shader though. Making copy and pasting so much easier.

I passed the suggestion to Maxon.

Cheers.

You’re welcome, Stu.

I know that feeling, memorizing a great workflow and ... well.

Thanks for taking time to submit a suggestion. Very nice of you.

The simplest way would be, to have an “material-shader”, which means you link a whole Material to that Shader (kind of container) and the Shader delivers only from the same channel (Refl. to Refl.) Shouldn’t be that difficult. If that would be possible, you would have a kind of source material.

We will see.

All the best
