Hello,

Maybe this is me failing to see the obvious, but is there a way of applying a falloff to particles?

In the exercise, we have an array of clones being affected by particles intersecting with the cloned objects, but the result ends up being very on / off.  I was wondering if there’s a way to have the volume effector’s influence be controlled by something to make the effect more gradual.

Would an xPresso distance node work with this?  How would one calculate the distance between each particle and cloned object though?  Seems like it might require a lot of calculation to achieve.

I’ve attached the project in case it helps.

Hi Jerome,

Particles can be used as Object in The Fall-Off field of an Effector.  That would be one way.

The other way would be, to just add a Delay Effector after the Volume Effector (Cloner Object>Effectors) and set it to Blend.

If you move the Emiter closer to the Clones and reduce the speed you might see the effect much better.

All the best

Sassi

I have adjusted the lights a little bit here to show that the change is no all or nothing. See the different sizes.

Wow.  Perfect.  That’s exactly what I was looking for.  Again, thank you.
