Hi,

I have a fairly complex Xpresso set up in which I need the name of an object, but I cannot get it to work.  I can get it to work with any new test file (create an object, drag the object into Xpresso, select the “Name” port, connect it to a result node, change the result node to “String,” and the name appears just fine). But I cannot get this to work within my whole set up—even just to connect the object node/ name port to a string result node.

Any suggestions on what conditions might prevent this from working?

I have worked out a solution, I think. If I place another Xpresso tag before the original one, (to the left of the original one) it works fine.

But I am still curious about what circumstances might prevent a node from getting the name. I’d expect it to work under all circumstances.

It is fairly hard to troubleshoot any complex setup without a scene.
In this case it may likely be better to go through support.
