I cannot get it not to bounce in one direction like the tutorial. Mine is bouncing in both directions. I have done exactly as the tutorial shows. I am on r14. Has something changed that I need to do differently?

Thanks

Hey Boojoo007,

Download the file that is attached to part one. Then load in your sound file and it should work. I just watched the tut and did exactly that, with r14.

If it goes in both direction, then the “Null-object/Cube” combination might be not as suggested. (As an alternative, you could make the cube editable and set the axis to the suggested side. With the Axis tool or with the Axis Center option.)
In any case, the idea is, that the axis is the origin of the scale, if the origin axis of the scale is on one border of the cube (or the parent Null) then it will be scaled only in one direction.

If you can provide a link to your scene file, I will have a look into it.

All the best

When I open up the sample file from the project it works fine after I attach a music clip. I redid the tutorial and I’m still having the same problem.
I have attached my file. I thank you for your help.

I must be missing something stupid.
I have tried making the cube editable as well with no luck. I have moved the axis point too.

My guess is I am not moving the axis point correctly.

THANKS!

You’re welcome
Would you mind to add the link to the file. If that is not possible, perhaps in the “Cineversity Q&A” forum.

I will check it ASAP :o)

Best

I found out my error.
My sound effector was moving in Z, and not Scaling in Z. I missed this in the tutorial, as he went pretty fast.
I knew I screwed something up.

Thanks for your efforts!

Thanks for the update, Boojoo007!

Things like that can happen. I start over in a new scene If I can’t “see” it. Sometimes that helps.

Yes the speed of tutorials is not simple to adjust, some people like it fast and others more detailed, and of course everyone has already a base of knowledge—and then those areas “looks” to slow.
No excuse, just sharing a common problem where I haven’t found a “one size fits all” solution.

All the best
