View Guides - Hair
A Guide (Hair) is a way for you to control the location, appearance and behavior of the hairs in the hair system. The guide itself is a line or curve made of several vertices and segments (which you control). Guides can represent any number of hairs, and hairs are interpolated between the guides themselves; guides are not actually rendered, only hair is rendered. However, guides are much quicker to deal with, and once you become familiar with the way guides work, you will see that its far easier to deal with guides than to actually be forced to deal directly with hair fibers themselves (although you can if you choose to do so).
