- This is the first video of the "Sketchup to Cinema 4D" video series. In this set of tutorials, we'll review how easy it now is to import your Sketchup file into Cinema 4D R17. You'll no longer need to export files using an alternate 3D file format, like 3DS, DWG, OBJ, or the like. You can now just pull Sketchup files directly into Cinema 4D. I should note that at the time of this tutorial only Sketchup 2015 files can be integrated into Cinema 4D R17. In the meantime, you can Save As a Sketchup 2015 file from Sketchup 2016, and import the 2015 file into Cinema 4D. Over the next series of videos, we'll review groups, layers, cameras, materials, sky data, and geolocation, and how to update content that you've already brought into Cinema 4D and need to change back in Sketchup, and then bring that updated content back into Cinema 4D. We'll also include some best practices, including how to handle faceted geometry both in Sketchup and Cinema 4D, 3D text, and how to bring a more complex model into Cinema 4D. I hope you find this series useful and it helps improve your workflow between Sketchup and Cinema 4D.
