In this video, I will tell you the opposite of what the title suggests. I will tell you what you need to avoid in order to get the best possible shot for motion tracking. As we all know, filmmaking is an art form so I don't expect you to follow all the rules when you're shooting a movie. Just make sure you avoid any unnecessary mistakes. Also, make sure your survey shot is perfect. So, let's see a list of some of the things you need to avoid, the most important ones. Number one, avoid jittery camera motion. Use a steady hand or dolly if you have access to one. In the movies, they usually add jitter and shakes in post. Number two, avoid fast moves. Try to keep it as smooth as possible and don't sneeze while shooting while you're at it. Fast moves introduce motion blur, thus altering, blurring the images. Also, most modern pro-sumer and low- end professional cameras have a rolling shutter whose distortion effect is very obvious in fast moving shots. Number three, avoid a lot of moving objects in your scene. Our tracker is capable of filtering out moving objects but if there are a lot of them, it certainly doesn't help. For example, if your scene has a lot of trees swaying in the wind or a city street scene that has a lot of cars going by, you get the idea. Number four, avoid heavy depth of field as it distorts the way things look. Number five, avoid anything that introduces visual artifacts, high compression, low resolution, non-uniform noise for example in low light situations using high ASA. And number six, make sure your shot has enough parallax. Shots with very subtle movements may not be able to provide enough information for the tracker. Now, you have a general idea of what to avoid when shooting a scene you intend to track. If you adhere to the above rules, your life will become much less complicated.
