Learning Cinema 4D’s Tools & Objects: Drawing a Wine Glass Basic shape
Using the Spline Pen Tool, and various commands, we will draw the profile of a wine glass to use with a Lathe Generator, in order to create a wine glass model. In the process, we will learn how to create and modify spline points, align them, as well as how to add thickness to splines to create uniform thin glass surfaces, like the main body of the wine glass. |

Learning Cinema 4D’s Tools & Objects: Adding Details to the Wine Glass
In this video we will take the basic profile we created in the previous chapter, and add some fine ornamental details and rounding to all corners. We will also make sure the polygon orientation (normals) are pointing in the correct direction, so that we don’t have issues when rendering. |

CG Event Rewind: A Glitch in the Metaverse with Red Giant | Chad Perkins
In this session, Maxon Senior Trainer Chad Perkins will create a 3D metaverse scene in After Effects by sending camera tracking data from After Effects to Cinema, bringing in a 3D character from Cinema 4D, turning it into a hologram, reflecting all of that into a live action plate, and compositing it all together. In the process, he’ll look at multiple ways to create 3D objects using Cineware and Trapcode Form, he’ll create disruptions in those particles using a clip from a vintage martial arts movie (Ninja Death III, if you’re curious), quickly create scrolling lines of code using plugins from Red Giant Universe, create and track a procedural reflection using tools from the VFX Suite, and composite it all together using Supercomp. 00:00 Overview |

All About Iterators: 01 - Course Introduction
In this artist-friendly series we’re going to explore one of Cinema 4D’s biggest productivity boosting toolkits: iterators. Even if you’ve never heard the word before, this in-depth course will open up new ways of working and thinking, enabling you to completely automate repetitive tasks and solve problems you thought only programmers could tackle. |

All About Iterators: 02: - Building Our First Iterator
Artists are often scared to even think about using Xpresso. So in this video we’re going to build our first little iteration machine from absolute first principles - no knowledge required. |

All About Iterators: 03: - Client Logo Project (Object Lists)
In this chapter we’ll start to solve real-world problems with iterators. Using the practical example of a client logo we’ll learn how to automate control of over twenty sweep objects in a fun and intuitive way. This will enable us to experiment and play with a form that would otherwise be quite painful to work with! |

All About Iterators: 04: - Client Logo Project - Range Mapping
The term “range mapping” might sound technical or intimidating. But this video contains a beginner’s guide to exactly what a ranger mapper does and how its interface can be used to create flowing, tweakable controls. That’s actually quite creative. |

All About Iterators: 05: - Client Logo Project - Reference Node
Taking our new skills to the next level, here we’ll learn about a new node, a new language and ways to build our own custom interfaces for controlling many objects at once. |

All About Iterators: 06: - Paper Loop Project - Hierarchy Lists
Another project based chapter providing the opportunity to elevate our skills even higher. This chapter looks at an animating paper loop where we start with a hand drawn sketch and too little information from the client! By using yet more iteration nodes we’ll learn how to control multiple objects in ways that will adapt to changing information and geometry as we go along. This is great for reducing work-related stress and major mistakes under pressure. |

All About Iterators: 09: - Paper Loop Project - Link List Automation
One of the most soul-sucking aspects of large scenes is the repetitive clicking and dragging that’s often involved in setting things up and making continuous amends. In this video we’ll look at a generalised method for automating connections between many objects, such as making links between objects and instances. This removes a lot of the drudgery from our work, giving us our lives back. |

All About Iterators: 10: - Creating “Outliers”
Automatically controlling many objects at once is an amazing skill to possess. But what if we want one of those objects to behave differently from the rest? In this video we’ll learn how to achieve just that by defining and controlling “outliers”. |

All About Iterators: 11: - Iterators and Mograph - Part 1
MoGraph cloners are themselves a kind of iterator that most C4D artists are already familiar with. In this final chapter we’ll look at ways to use the amazing abilities of Mograph in conjunction with our new found iteration skills in Xpresso. |

All About Iterators: 12: - Iterators and Mograph - Part 2
In this second part about iterators and Mograph we’ll complete a setup for controlling the points of a parametric object using a Mograph Matrix Object. We’ll also learn a new super power by using fields to create an Xpresso falloff, opening up endless creative possibilities. |
David Todman | Dec 15 2021 | 13:08 | 769 | |
