thanks for your help. But even after fixing the permissions, I can not paste from AI to C4D. The error message in the console is gone, but no objects are created in C4D. I also tried to download the plugin manually and replaced the toolbox installation with this. Same result. I can execute clipAICBHandler.app by double clicking, so OS X security is not preventing the app from starting.

What version of OSX and Illustrator are you using? Are you trying just a simple shape like a box?

I am using OS X 10.10.2 and AI CS5.1. I have created a simple rectangle in AI for copying and pasting. I can use CVSmartArt copy and paste with splines inside of C4D. But I also can not paste Splines to AI. It seems that the transfer to AI the AI paste buffer does not work, since the paste command is greyed out in AI after copying a spline in C4D.

I’m using ArtSmart v2.3. All is working fine except when I need to use the ‘Create Materials’ button. At that moment, al the materials are loaded. But they look not the same as in my AI-file. Also the RGB-values are different. What could be the problem and, hopefully, the solution? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I recently installed Cinema 4D R16, I had the old version of CV-ArtSmart plug-in installed and everything worked fine.
I decided to download the latest version of CV-ArtSmart and now the ArtSmart Object doesn’t show anything when I import an Illustrator file.

Hi Alex,

Try this:
- Open the C4D Preferences (Ctrl-E)
- Click Open Preferences Folder
- Navigate to the prefs subfolder
- Delete “symbolcache”
- Restart C4D

It’s possible the symbol cache isn’t updated to take into account some new options that were added to ArtSmart. This is a common issue that occurs when updating C4D Python plugins, and one that should be mitigated if you use CV-Toolbox to install our plugins (Toolbox automatically deletes the symbolcache after each install).

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please check the Console (Shift-F10) and send a screenshot or list (right-click Copy All) of any messages that appear there.

The plugin looks great, but I can’t make it work properly- it’s very slow, and after 1 or two manipulations it’s stuck and I get the wheel of death.
working with R17 on macpro with 32gb, every runs smoothly except with this plugin. tried to fix permissions, delete symbol cache, nothing helps. tried with a simple one path from Illustrator, always stuck.
again- I can import ai file and make 2-3 tweaks, but then it all stuck and I get the wheel..

anything I might try to solve it?

For now, just turn on “Legacy Centering”. I believe that Rick is working on a more comprehensive fix.

I can replicate copy/paste issues on Windows 10. I’m trying to find a fix, and will keep you posted.

I just pushed 2.82, which fixes the clipboard functionality on Windows 10. That’s the only change in this version.

Hello! For some reason certain dark colors are “black”. It just started happening. I’m using v.2.1, the newest version does the same thing. Has anyone else had this problem? C4D R15 Thanks

Not sure I understand - are you saying that the materials created when using Create Materials are darker than expected? I’ve not made any recent changes to the color handling, but keep in mind that Illustrator by default works with CMYK and includes various color profile settings. Since C4D doesn’t support CMYK, ArtSmart attempts to convert any CMYK colors to RGB, but conversion between print and screen color is problematic and I haven’t found a way to precisely match Illustrator’s algorithm or access its color profiles.

For the best color experience with ArtSmart, work in RGB mode within Illustrator or convert the colors to RGB using Edit-Edit Colors-Convert to RGB.

If I’m totally barking up the wrong tree, provide more details on your issue (and ideally an Illustrator file) and I’ll see what I can figure out.
