(Just fyi, this is the most confusing tutorial thus far, partly because my newest C4D version doesn’t match the demo version, I know).

I cannot get the loop selection tool described here about 6:30. I assume it is because I do not have all the right modes and tools selected, but it is unclear exactly what those are.

Tried zipping some images to show you as well as the project file, but I keep getting this message: “The file you are attempting to upload has invalid content for its MIME type.” No idea what the problem is there either.

Hi david.pollock,

“Looping” is nothing that indicates which tutorial was used.
Would you please use only the Help Button?
Never change the tutorial forums-thread headline. Thank you.

The loop selection tool works with points, edges, or polygons. This also means not with generators, like extrude, Sweep, etc., nor with Primitives.

Which tutorial are you referring to?

Sorry about the Mime thingy.

Cheers

I did use the help button to post to the particular tutorial thread. Second time this has happened to me.

The tutorial is: Getting Started with Cinema 4D, Part 08: Introduction to Organic Modeling

Thanks for the tutorial name and the time, david.pollock, very much appreciated.

Personally, I’m against shortcuts for this level of training, as it takes the exploration of the menus away, and for obvious other reasons. Besides, it takes a lot of attention to memorize it away from the content, as shortcuts are abstract. Sorry about the trouble that it has caused.

Here is a short screen capture, which goes one time through the steps.

Thank you. Did you mean to attach a file or include a link?

Thanks. Very helpful though I’m going to have to watch it a few times more. I have looping, but cannot yet make adjustments with it…

Thanks for the reply, david.pollock.

When you have something selected, e.g., the edges, you can go to the Scale mode as suggested in the tutorial and scale it.

While in scale mode with the edges active, click and hold down the mouse (or pen, etc.) and drag a little bit. Then click on each axis (the red, green, or blue) to only scale in one direction. Is that working?

Here is a follow-up to the clip above. Take your time. This is essential and will be done a lot in most projects. To have this skill down is important.
