Hello, I have a problem with breaking glass with Voronoi Fracture. The cracks are already visible while the glass is falling. I found this tutorial but when I converted the material to Redshift it didn’t work. Please help me :<

Hi ravemanti1,

I haven’t explored this setup with Redshift, but it follows so far what I have done and seen since the introduction of Voronoi Fracture, and well before that:

The simple idea is to use an unbroken object first and then replace or blend progressively into the broken parts.
A complete series (not for Redshift) is here:

All the best

Thank you, but I want to break it slowly from tiny to large pieces not just blend unbroken to broken :(

Hi ravemanti1,

I have explored this a little bit, and the only way I kept the Glass in one piece while scattering pieces out of it was with the Volume Builder/Mesher.

Example: (The background is set up quickly, just to have something to refract in the scene.)
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/KdPBJ2VbP7GbXQhwIy5YCRmr7437gsv3dV97FcyBciK

Since little pieces would “melt” with the volume effect, which is an excellent effect, but I guess not what you were after, I have set up two Voronoi Fracture objects with the exact same Point Source.

The MoGraph Selection allows me to make a piece invisible while, at the same time, it is available in the other setup. (Hence the same source).

The Connect Object would NOT work with the Glass, so the Volume is used.

Let me know if you have any questions about it. I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

P.S.: for a better performance, if the glass-pane is flat, try the Volume Mesher > Adaptive set to 0.1%
